Can you help me work out the right pallet specifications for my needs?
Yes. We use a "Best Pallet“ Design programme that calculates the load-bearing capacity and structural strength of every pallet we design. This ensures the pallet we build is suited to your specific product weight, stacking requirements and end use. Technical drawings are available for all PDS pallets so you have full visibility of what you are ordering.
Do I have to order a standard size, or can you build to my requirements?
We build to your requirements. We can produce pallets, bins and crates to any size or specification you need. There is no obligation to order a standard size, and our team will work with you to design a product that fits your product, your handling equipment and your storage or transport environment.
Can you hold stock of our pallets and crates to reduce our lead times?
Yes. For customers who order on a regular basis, we are happy to hold stock at our Wiri, Auckland, NZ, facility. This means your pallets and crates are ready to go when you need them, without waiting on a production run each time you place an order.
What is ISPM 15, and do my pallets need to comply with it?
ISPM 15 stands for International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures. In practical terms, any timber pallet, crate or packaging used to export goods from New Zealand must comply with the ISPM 15 programme before it can enter most international markets. The standard requires that timber packaging be heat treated to eliminate any organisms present in the wood. Big Tuff Timber Products is fully accredited with the AssureQuality ISPM 15 Wood Packaging programme and carries out both heat treatment on-site at our Auckland, NZ, facility. Non-compliant timber packaging can result in your shipment being held or rejected at its destination port, so it is important to confirm your packaging meets the standard before your goods leave New Zealand.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
